Local Accountant – Indonesia (Remote)

Role overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Local Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting, tax and statutory filings of Explera Indonesia. You will work remotely from anywhere in Indonesia with the group finance team, who handle consolidation and cash management, and with our external auditors and tax advisers.

Explera Indonesia pays hotels, transport companies and guides every day and invoices partners in several currencies, so accuracy and timeliness are critical.

Key responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping & reconciliations

• Record and reconcile supplier invoices, partner receipts and bank accounts
• Manage multi-currency receivables and payables, including exchange differences
• Follow up overdue partner payments with the sales team

2. Month-end closing & reporting

• Run month-end closing within the group timetable
• Prepare management accounts and variance commentary for the country manager and group finance
• Support intercompany billing and reconciliations with our Hong Kong headquarters

3. Tax & statutory compliance

• Prepare and file Indonesia tax and statutory returns accurately and on time
• Keep statutory registers and supporting documents audit-ready
• Monitor changes in local tax rules and flag their impact

4. Payroll & audit support

• Prepare payroll inputs and statutory contributions with HR
• Support the annual audit and work with external tax advisers

Requirements

• Degree in accounting or finance
• 2+ years of full-cycle accounting in Indonesia, ideally in travel, hospitality or services
• Monthly PPN and PPh filings (e-Faktur, e-Bupot, Coretax)
• BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and BPJS Kesehatan contributions and payroll support
• Knowledge of SAK EP / SAK accounting standards; Brevet A/B is a plus
• Bahasa Indonesia and business English
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Living in Indonesia and able to work as an independent contractor (invoicing Explera monthly)
• Your own laptop, a reliable internet connection and a quiet place to work

Remote contract

This is a remote role for people living in Indonesia. There is no Explera office in Indonesia: you work from home and join the team online.

• Engagement: independent contractor with Explera DMC Limited (Hong Kong), with a monthly fee agreed in writing
• You invoice monthly and handle your own Indonesian tax and BPJS as a self-employed professional
• Working hours: 09:00–18:00 WITA on weekdays, or as agreed at offer
• You use your own laptop and a reliable internet connection; Explera provides the systems and accounts you need
